- Daniel Raymond,
- Sending this public because your mailing address didn't take...
- Yes I am a TRS-80 enthusiast, and yes if have references to SEVERAL
- businesses and sources of files and services for the TRS-80 Model 1/3/4.
- It sounded as if you were not a long time user of a Model 3, so there is one
- question you will need to ask yourself before you pursue obtaining any
- accessories for your Model 3, "Do I want to spend time and money on an out
- of date machine?" While the Model 3 does have a very impressive public
- domain file listing, most new software available for the TRS-80 is for the
- Model 4, so basically what is currently available is all there will be.
- Naturally, you'll need a Disk Operating System, you can purchase TRSDOS or
- LDOS from Computer News 80 magazine, as well as several other items. In the
- mean time, you can use the built in BASIC by holding down the <BREAK> key
- immediately after pressing the orange reset button. This will manually turn
- off the disk drives and place you in cassette base, you will only be able to
- save to a cassette, doubtfull you'll find the necessary cables to hook up to
- a cassette recorder. Most of the hardware costs MUCH more than today's IBM
- style machines, though software is MUCHO cheaper. There's a serious
- commitment to owning a TRS-80, if you're willing to make it, I'll be more
- than happy to give you all the info you need. If not, I have business
- addresses of people willing to purchase your software/hardware to pass on to
- other enthusiasts. Looking forward to your reply...
