- Alan,
- Congrats on your purchase of a Model 4 series computer. As for your
- desire to obtain a tech manual, don't dally. Those manuals are no longer in
- print and are in HIGH DEMAND. It's VERY doubtfull you'll get one cheap,
- much less free. This manual is absolutely necessary if you ever intend to
- do any assembly programming (as it contains all the Z-80 instructions and
- SVC commands for you to use). It also has all the necessary schematics so
- that anyone (with any skill) can perform surgury on your Model 4. You will
- need to know what type of computer you have, gate array or non-gate array as
- there are two different manuals, one for each array type. To find out, look
- underneath your computer at the serial number, if it ends with an "A", then
- it is non-gate array (the more advanced). You will also need to know this
- should you ever wish to upgrade your Model 4P to 128K, a gate array computer
- requires an additional PAL chip along with the standard 64K DRAM chips.
- The best thing to do is to call the Tandy national parts warehouse and
- order one NOW!
