  12.      I've got a couple of MTI-1600's and ports hang all too often.  They are
  13. used for dial-up access.
  14.  
  15.      The ports hang in a variety of strange modes, amoung them:

  17.     The 'SD' lead gets stuck high.
  18.  
  19.     The port refuses to receive but will still transmit.
  20.  
  21.     The port will receive but will not transmit.
  22.  
  23.     The DTR lead will not go low when the port is closed.
  24.  
  25.     The getty process gets stuck in <exiting> mode.
  26.  
  27.      While tracing the getty process I see a call to 'auditsys', which I
  28. neither make explicitly nor is it documented in the manual pages.

  30.      The system call takes four arguments and seems to return an interger
  31. value, which coincidentally was my user id.
  32.  
  33.      Anyway, unsticking these stuck ports usually requires a boot.  Anybody
  34. that can tell me a way to unstick them without booting, well I'd appreciate
  35. it.

  37.      Alternately, a fix that keeps them from sticking in the first place would
  38. be nice.  This was not a frequent problem under SUN/OS 3.5, but from 4.0 on it
  39. has been real pain.  I am on 4.1.1_U1 and it is still a problem.
