- Hi,
- I know some unix but not much about networking. My telnet connections
- from University of Cincinnati to Fermilab, chicago are very slow. I used
- traceroute to find the path of my IP packets. They seem to go through 19 hops
- to go to Fermilab and took about 150ms for the roundtrip.
- But the roundtrip time from Cincinnati to Ohio-state in Columbus is about
- 11ms and from there to Fermilab is only another 35ms. What I found was that
- my default routes take a different path. I used traceroute and forced the
- packets to go through a route in Columbus and found that path is much faster.
- Now the problem is that I don't know how I could set the default path
- from Cincinnati to Fermilab, the way I want to.
-
- By the way I am uning a SUN-ELC. I greatly appreciate any help I could get.
