- I have a V.32/V.42/V.42bis/MNP5 modem that I have connected to the ttyb
- port of my SparcServer 4/470. I've been able to dial in and out with no
- problems, but whenever I try to do a Zmodem download, it chokes every 16K
- with a bad CRC, forcing a resynchronization and dropping throughput to
- about 350 CPS. If I fore Zmodem to handshake every 1K, the transfer works
- better, but throughput it about 850 CPS. This modem should be pumping out
- around 1150-1200 CPS, based on the speed.
-
- Near as I can figure, it's because the modem is expecting hardware flow
- control (CTS/DTS, I think) rather than software flow control (XON/XOFF).
-
- I had a pointer to a EEPROM setting to toggle this, but it turns out that
- the 4/470 EEPROM doesn't support this particular toggle. Has anyone out
- out there had success with this type of thing? If so, please drop me some
- e-mail. I'll summarize if I get the thing working.
