- anyone know what's the deal with SunOS's memory deallocation technique??
-
- just the facts:
-
- - SUN 4/280 running SunOS4.1 with 64 Meg
-
- - developers complain that some of their MOTIF processes fail due to
- insufficient memory....
-
- vmstat's fre column showed less than 2 Meg free and then page outs(po's)
- started to appear.
-
- i ran a ps -vax which is supposed to kick out some more virtual memory
- information.
-
- the RSS's totaled up to about 15 Meg.
-
- there's about 3 Meg allocated for IPC stuff.
-
- i've heard noise that some of the virtual memory stats reported by
- SunOS aren't too helpful...
-
- what's the deal???
-
- any ideas???
