  21. The answer is (as often) "it depends".

  23. Application level software is binary compatible if you are running
  24. SunOS 4.1.3. Many drivers and custom system calls are, too. SCSI
  25. drivers are not, they must be recompiled (at least for a 600 class
  26. machine which has the same kernel architecture, sun4m).

  28. If you are running SunOS 5.0 (part of Solaris 2.0), all kernel
  29. level code has to undergo major rework. Applications are binary
  30. compatible if they adhere to the rules (i.e. FrameMaker is not
  31. compatible).
