- Greets....before my 3 random shots at the net, let me say kudos to
- sgi people [and a pat on the back to c.s.sgi net.people] for the
- 'support' dir in the sgi.com ftp zone! Now I can scroll happily in this
- other window to see if I _need_ to install 4.0.5 or not.....
-
- ...which brings me to....
-
- Upgrading. I'm sitting at a 3.3.2 box, with a 4.0.1 tape over in a cabinet.
- I know the 'gotchas' must be well-documented, and I'm going to pour over
- c.s.sgi archives, but what I'd *really* be interested in are the man-hours I
- should be worried about it taking. I was used to an X environment before I
- came over to NeWS, so that should be ok, but.... [winces]
-
- Also, I am holding in my hand the Sep issue of _Imaging_Magazine_, and have had
- p30 pointed out to me. Namely the Pinnacle Micro PMO-650. Anyone have any
- experience with these [or similar M-O] beasties? It seems logical that users
- who aren't conscious of how LARGE the images they generate are can be taught
- simply by giving them their own are to 'administer', in the form of their own
- CD....
- [random thought - another thing; what about space differences between the NeWS
- software & X11? am I going to be losing or gaining space? (losing is my bet)]
-
- ...finally, A thing just to round this out: is _Iris_Universe_ something we're
- supposed to be getting all the time? I see references here and there in
- c.s.sgi...and this IS a minor point, but.....stilll......
