- Here is some info I have saved a while ago. This may be of help....

- ---------------------------
-
- From "IRIS Universe", issue number 20, pg 70:
- ---------------------------------------------
-
- "Silicon Graphics has announced its support for the Quorum Compatibility
- Engine, an enabling technology from Quorum Software Systems, Inc. that
- allows software written for Macintosh PCs to run on Silicon Graphic's
- family of RISC based workstations and servers. Support of the package
- means that developers of technical and commercial applications can
- recompile their packages to run on Silicon Graphics' 3D color
- workstations. Technical users needing powerful UNIX based software can
- also move up from the Macintosh, while keeping the productivity,
- illustration and entertainment packages they use on their Apple
- Products. The Quorum technology will let users run Mac applications on
- RISC based workstations while taking advantage of the Display PostScript
- system for screen imaging. Users who have PostScript printers will be
- able to get one-hundred percent screen-to-printer accuracy from their
- Macintosh applications.
- Silicon Graphics will support two software products, Latitude and
- Equal, both built upon the Quorum Compatibility Engine. Latitude, a
- product for software developers that allows cource code to be compiled
- with minimal modification for use on UNIX computers, will be especially
- attractive to Macintosh users requiring the CPU performance, 3D
- capabilities and color computing functionality of the IRIS Indigo RISC
- PC. Equal, a product designed for users of IRIS and other UNIX systems,
- interprets shrink wrapped Macintosh applications without performance
- penalties.
- Latitude and Equal are scheduled for release in the first half of
- 1992. For more information, contact:
