- We have been noticing some very strange behaviour on one of
- our Indigo's running 4.0.5MM which prevents us from running
- one of our applications for more than a few minutes before
- it bogs right down in swap. I was hoping someone may have
- some ideas about this - it is making the machine almost useless!
- Here are my test results (from gr_osview -a):
-
- MB Pages
- Machine OS RAM Kernel Prog
-
- PI20TG 4.01 16 700 2000
- 310VGX 3.32 32 800 1900(w/ IDO)
- Indigo Etry 4.04 16 800 3000
- Indigo Etry 4.05MM 16 1400 1600(w/ IndigoVideo board & IDO)
-
- On the entry Indigo with video board, just holding down the mouse
- in the application (which just checks input - does not do anything
- by way of mallocing) on a slider bar starts rapidly eating memory
- and ends up in swap increadibly fast (in Real-Time!), I can actually
- see the free RAM drop with gr_osview. The same does NOT happen on
- any of the other systems!
-
- Does anyone know of a potential reason for this? The original 4.0.5
- was the 'a' version before Media Mosaic additions were thrown on.
