  26. I had a similar problem and will explain the problem for the benefit
  27. of anyone who might face this one. Apparently this bug persists on
  28. 4.0.5 too as the SGI person Ross Oliver informs me. Thanks Ross.

  32. Try reset(ting) your machine. When the machine boots up, go to the
  33. PROM monitor (by pressing escape), switch to single user mode inside
  34. the PROM monitor (by typing single). Try "mount /dev/usr /usr". If the
  35. message is "Filesystem dirty" or something similar, do an "fsck -y
  36. /dev/usr" and do a manual mount ("mount /dev/usr /usr"). If you see
  37. the filesystem, then everything should be ok and the problem is with a
  38. file in /etc/config. Try outputting the contents of
  39. /etc/config/system.glGammaVal. If there is nothing in the file, echo
  40. 1.7 (yes, 1, decimal point, 7) into that file. Do a "shutdown" and
  41. wait for the system to boot up normally.
