- I'm no expert on this but its my impression that you shouldn't be editing the
- Makefiles, and that there is a config script that should be run (kinda like
- mkmf for X windows stuff -- the Makefiles there are pretty complicated too).

- In any case I think that you should repost this to one of the gnu groups where
- I am sure someone can help you, maybe gnu.utils, or gnu.utils.bug if you think
- there is a problem with the installation procedure.

- Submitting bug reports for GNU software is what you have to do if you want
- this software to develop. There is a section in the GNU emacs info that tells
- you how to submit bug reports.

- I'm not sure what you mean by the library update. We've installed gcc-2.2.2
- (with some patches) and libg++-2.2 on our SGI's (4.0.4). Many others have
- done the same.
