  13. I would like to know if it is possible to determine the
  14. width of a window in order to control outputs like the
  15. command ls -C does for multiple columns output. 
  16. I have heard that on Sun (?) the `stty size` gives this result. 
  17. But what about SGI ?

  19. I must say that the description of ls -C in the man did not
  20. help me.
