- Hello netlanders,
-
- According to Exabyte-8500 tape documentation, The Exabyte-8500 tape drive
- is capable of writing files which the Exabyte-8200 is able to read by
- issuing the appropriate SCSI command. I was wondering if IRIX 4.0.[1-5] has
- support for this feature? Can I write files with the 8500 tape and then
- read them on a 8200 tape? How can this be done?
-
- I have inspected /dev/rmt/tps* and noticed that there are device drivers
- with the 8200 suffix and others with the 8500 suffix. The man page for tps
- doesn't explain what is the difference between these device drivers (What
- will happen if I will use the driver with the 8200 suffix with Exabyte-850
- tape drive? Does the driver with the 8200 suffix support for this feature?
-
- Thanks in advance.
