- OK, I think the message has been delivered. I don't know what it
- will take to get it to happen, but I'll talk to the folks who
- do the artwork.
-
- | In addition, I have another more pertinent question. I just received
- | 4.0.5a w/o requesting it, but the media was 1/4" tape. How do I go about
- | notifying SGI that I would like my software updates on CD from now on?
-
- Presumably by calling the TAC. Tapes cost more, so either the
- ordering info is messed up, or somebody there ordered tapes.
-
- | And while I'm thinking about it, should I go to the trouble to install
- | 4.0.5a on PI machines (i.e. non-Crimson and non-Indigo) if they're all
- | ready running 4.0.1? Do I gain any functionality or fix any bugs by
- | doing so? I'm still really confused by the whole 4.0.5a|b|c|d thing,
- | as I suspect many of us are.
-
- Yes, there were assorted bugs fixed. But if you haven't been bothered
- by them, and/or you are running 3rd party s/w that you don't know
- for sure works under 4.0.5, stay at 4.0.1; there wasn't anything
- *really* catastrophic fixed. You can get the relnotes via ftp
- from sgi.com directory support, file relnotes405.tar.Z
-
- | I think a FAQ for this group is long overdue. I'm almost to the point
- | that I'd volunteer to keep track of such a thing if the acknowledged
- | gurus (Vernon, Dave, et al) would siphon information this way.
-
- I thought somebody was already putting one together. Unfortunately
- reviewing them is sort of time consuming if you do a good job; does
- anybody know if somebody actually committed to doing an FAQ?
