- I just finished reading "PenPoint Programming" by Andy Novobilski. I wish
- this book had been around a year ago! Andy has addressed the question
- "What do I do when I get this message?" He first shows the order of events
- (i.e. what order the messages are in and when) in a very simple and
- straight-forward way (Go's description was scattered across 3 chapters in
- the first AR) then explains what you should do for each message. (Note:
- I'm talking about the basic messages like msgInit, msg AppInit, etc) He
- goes on to show how to do other things like writing DLLs, setting up a
- Data / View model, how to use ClsTableLayout and ClsCustomLayout,
- automatic support for importing files and a whole bunch of tips and
- tricks.
-
- I have started recommending this book to people as the second book to read
- before starting to program PenPoint. (The first is "Power of PenPoint")
-
- The book is published by Addison-Wesley (ISBN 0-201-60833-2) cost is
- $24.95. You should be able to order it from your favorite bookstore (our
- campus bookstore said they were going to stock it ASAP) or you can order
- from Andy's company Novotech. Andy is also making available a source code
- disk for $25 (available directly from him). He prices the two together for
- $48. ($45 + $3 shipping).
