- Can someone please help?! I need advice on what to do now. My latest
- (3rd - after 2 exchanges) Derive ROM card can not be accessed by my
- HP95LX, even after I sent the '95 to Corvallis for servicing on this
- problem. The card connector has never had any bent or missing pins!
- I own no other cards.
-
- Short history:
-
- 1) Purchased Derive 2.0 card. My HP95LX is a 1 Meg model. Card worked
- sporadically and then finally could be accessed no longer ("no card" and
- "bad" from the self test of "plug-in card").
-
- 2) Exchanged for new card. "no-card", "bad" from the
- self-test menu, card could not always be accessed, crashed my machine.
-
- 3) Sent HP95LX to Corvallis for warrantee servicing for this problem. Upon
- return (work receipt said "logic was replaced"). Same story again
- with Derive card. Sporadic accessibility, "no card", "bad"
- frequently come up on the self-test.
-
- 4) Went to Fry's and got a salesman to let me try a Sparcom RAM card.
- Self-test never wavered from "ok". Plugged the Derive card back in -
- got "no card" and "bad".
-
- 5) Returned 2nd card. Got 3rd card (now Derive 2.5) Card isn't recognized.
- "no card" all I get from the self-test.
-
- Now what do I do? I've exchanged cards, I've had the HP95 "repaired", but
- after 2 months of waiting and lots of UPS shipments, I'm still not going
- anywhere. I'm really not feeling good about this plug-in ROM/RAM card
- technology, if the cards or the connectors are this sensitive and error-prone.
-
- I know people from HP (who are connected with HP95, and also who aren't) as
- well as people who contribute to the "Palmtop Paper" (who may have had contact
- with various people at HP about the HP95) read this newsgroup. If any of you
- people are a good person to consult about this problem, or can direct me
- a person to talk to about getting this resolved, I'd really appreciate it.
-
- I've spent way too much time and money trying to get these products to work,
- and haven't been sucessful. I think what I need is an HP engineer to work
- with my '95LX and my Derive card and figure out what is happening and
- fix or replace my '95LX or tell me for sure that the card is defective
- (seems real unlikely after 3 cards). I don't understand why this wasn't fixed
- when I sent it in (no feedback info at all) so I need to talk to someone
- so they understand the problem and will be expecting my equipment when I send
- it.
-
- Please help!
