- Over the weekend, the mail database on our Netware 3.11 server (a
- collection of files that resides in a directory called CCDATA on
- one of our volumes) got corrupted. Since we make a backup of the
- entire server with SBACKUP every night to a DAT tape, I thought I
- would restore the database from the night before. I wanted to
- use the "Destination Paths" option in SBACKUP to restore just
- this one directory, and to redirect it to a temporary directory I
- had just created so I could inspect the files before continuing.
-
- Try as I might, I couldn't get SBACKUP to do this. If I put
- DATA:CCDATA/ under include directory options and chose
- DATA:CCDATA/ as source and DATA:TEMP/ as destination and then
- started a restore, it would mount the tape, look for a few
- seconds in the log and then say it was finished and dismount. No
- files were restored. I played around for quite a while with
- setting include/exclude options various ways, and with minor
- variations in syntax (leaving the slashes off the directory
- names, etc), but couldn't get it to go.
-
- I know SBACKUP basically works with our server and DAT tape
- hardware because we've restored the entire file server a couple
- of times. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong (if what I'm trying
- to do is doable)?
