- We are currently using the Network Archivist product from Palindrome Corp..
- We use it to backup a total of 7 servers. It is pretty self sufficient,
- once you get it set up for your rotation schedule.
-
- Only one complaint. We lost several users email directories at one point.
- So naturally we wanted to restore the users entire directory. The problem
- with the Archivist software is that it will retain 20 copies of every file ever
- deleted. So to restore the users email mailbox we would have to restore every
- message that was ever in the directory. There is no way, unless we really
- missed the bus, to say "restore stuff that was here yesterday, but not before".
-
- My only other complaint is that Palindrome has some funky support policies.
- If you're not on their "preferred" support plan (extra $$$) then you have
- to wait forever for a return call. If you're not in US, then I would be
- verry cautious.
-
- If I had to do it over again, I would probably have stuck with the simple
- streaming kind of back up and rotate my own schedule.
-
- Drop me an email if you would like to chat further.
-
- Good luck in your research.
