  14. We are having problems booting one of our NeXTStations. It stops during
  15. the boot process when "Checking System Disk" is displayed in the
  16. message box.
  17.  
  18. The problem is not consistent, in that it boots up roughly 40% of the
  19. time.
  20.  
  21. If the cpu does hang, and we try rebooting a few more times (via
  22. command-command-~) we can successfully boot the machine. (after
  23. a few tries)

  25. When we bootup with the monitor screen up, we've had two things happen:
  26.  
  27. 1. the error message "unexpected kernal page fault failure" 
  28. 2. panic: (Cpu 0) MMU invalid descriptor during table walk
  29.  
  30. I would venture to "guess" that the kernal has gone bad, and we have to
  31. rebuild the hard drive, but then again, I'm no NeXT god. Any ideas?
