- Some of us have editted /etc/ttys as you have done, but the above mess is a
- little difficult to decipher (which console entries are commented out, which
- white space is tabs and which, spaces, are both quotes in correct places, are
- the options correctly spelled, etc., etc.?)
-
- Maybe I'm just a clutz, but I quit using this approach when I miseditted
- /etc/ttys for a client just before I left his premises, didn't reboot to test
- it (dumb), and the next time rebooting was required, a blank screen resulted
- when loginwindow failed due to an error I'd made in /etc/ttys. My client
- wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what the problem was before calling
- NeXT support (he couldn't reach me) who solved the problem. I was really
- embarrassed (and still am).
-
- So I prefer the defaults database/NetInfo approach.
