- It's very likely that the bearings inside the drive are going. (The
- bearings are one of the primary causes of hard drive failure.) It's
- likely that you'll need to replace the drive soon; I don't think that a
- computer repair store would even try to fix it. If you're under
- warrenty, the drive manufacturer will probably replace the drive rather
- than attempting repair.

- I'd also suggest that you start being enthusiastic about doing system
- dumps. Your disk drive is in the "armed and dangerous" category.
