- NS 3.0 supports connections to Apple Macintoshes via EtherTalk an
- implementation of "AppleTalk" over the transport media of ethernet.

- This means then that you need an ethernet card on your Macintosh and the
- EtherTalk Phase 2 driver as well.

- Well,
-
- You can print from the NeXT to the Macintosh Appletalk printer if you have
- LaserBridge from Sonic Systems. I just printed the 3.0 NeXTMail message from
- Mail to my LaserWriter II NT attached via LocalTalk to my Mac IIx. Yippee!
-
- Of note, the national flags appeared only as grey boxes--I presume the
- PostScript code being used was NeXTSTEP proprietary extension based that just
- would not render on the LaserWriter. Bummer.
-
- I would assume that to do the reverse (what you want) would entail the NeXT
- printer being published as an available Appletalk device. The cheapest and most
- elegant solution would be software based of course.

- An interesting note: Connecting the 2 machines up required MORE work on the
- Macintosh side in terms of the pieces of software required and the
- configuration needed to become operational. I found the NeXT implementation of
- this kind of Systems Integration to straightforward--kudos to the engineering
- team at NeXT responsible for the implementation.
