- Hi,
- Does anybody out there have any experince on working with the NCR
- 3434-300 under Netware 3.11.
- We have installed two NCR 3434-3000, 486-33MHz Server (one for daily use
- and the other for backup - both have same configuration) for almost one
- year, so far so good. The problems came after we installed on 6091-5500
- external 1.2GB hard disk on the daily use server (all of the disks are
- external) and on internal 1.2GB on the backup server. The backup server
- is not connect to the lan unless the daily use server break down.
- Problems first came on Aug. 17, Console got a message said 'PLEASE REBOOT
- THE SYSTEM AND RESET'. We got system lockup after loading the SCSI driv)
- then we had to make a cold boot, this time it seemed work fine but cannot
- mount the DAT volume. We had to restore all the backup after repeated
- the VREPAIR for several time.
- two days after, the same problem came again but this when we rebooted the
- system, it gave us some warning as followings:-
- Volume DAT is missing segment 0
- Volume DAT first segment (1) does not start at block 0
- Definition for sync 4 of volume DAT removed
- Definition for volume DAT is invalid
- On subsequent bootup, the error message was:
- Problem with file 00040001. Q length extended old, length=0, New
- length=4096
- Problem with file Q_0004SRV (TTS file ... was not changed) length
- kept=0, had allocated=4096
- We found that there had two different version of SCSI driver
- (NCR1700.DSK) version 1.03 and 2.01, they are not interchangable.
- I would say that it seems to be the SCSI driver problems? Does any body
- have such experince orif you have some hints pls email to my account.
- I would appreciate your prompt response, THANKS...
