- I asked for some way to trick my PB100 into thinking it's screen was
- 512x342 so that I could run games like Beyond Dark Castle and others
- that seem to expect a small screen.
-
- A large number of people too humerous to mention (thank you all)
- told me about an INIT called MiniScreen 1.2 by Morgan Davis.
- It allows the screen to be defined arbitrarily small at startup,
- and is available from many places on the 'net : a search for
- 'miniscreen' with archie will find an archive near you.
-
- Unfortunately, this INIT only works on Colour Quickdraw capable Macs.
- Which doesn't include the PB100, of course.
-
- A couple of people told me it was likely I had no hope of getting
- these things running on a 640x400 screen:
-
- James McCarthy:
- >The problem is, it sounds like they've got a 512-pixel width hard-coded
- >into the game. And there's no software that will detect when a program
- >simply adds (512/8 equals) 64 to an address that happens to point into

- >this wouldn't have happened, but as it is...
-
- d88-jwa@nada.kth.se :

-
- But on the other hand, Helen Rose wrote:
- >This is odd, as I've had *no* problems running Dark Castle (or Beyond)

-
- Either I have old versions of these games, or they assume a 68000 Mac
- always has a 512x342 screen. My Beyond Dark Castle is dated 1987 (no version).
- Any further help would be much appreciated.
