- The phone jack trick is the only thing that makes the machine completely
- silent. As far as I know, there's no way to bypass the startup sound,
- since that happens before any other software gets a chance to run.

- The next best thing is something I wrote called SilentBeep. What this does
- is make all SysBeeps flash the menu bar as if the sound volume was 0. With
- this installed, you can set the sound volume to 1 to get the softests
- possible startup sound, but still have a silent beep the rest of the time.
