  13. began shipping  StoneTable(TM) for use with MPW C. StoneTable is a
  14. replacement for the Macintosh List Manager.  A version for use with
  15. Think C has been available for several months.  Also with this release,
  16. StoneTable will now support application defined cell validation
  17. functions for both the Think C and MPW C versions.
  18.  
  19. StoneTable provides a rich set of functions for the Macintosh developer
  20. who needs to display or accept data in a tabular form. Conversion from
  21. the List Manager is straight forward because StoneTable contains
  22. functions with similar names and parameters that are semantically
  23. equivalent.

  25. Functionality includes:
  26. - variable width columns
  27. - variable height rows
  28. - data in a cell can be edited in place
  29. - no internal limit to the amount of data that can be stored in a cell.
  30. The amount of text displayed in a single cell is only limited by
  31. TextEdit
  32. - multiple cells can be set at once
  33. - mouse down handling provides an optional interface for moving,
  34. copying, selecting, and resizing a column or row plus scrolling and
  35. editing the text in a cell
  36. - columns and rows can be hidden
  37. - optional lines between columns and/or rows can have a user supplied
  38. pattern
  39. - irregular selections can be made
  40. - columns and rows can have default titles (letters, numbers, or blank)
  41. - ability to scroll individual cell text
  42. - columns can have applications supplied titles
  43. - the formatting (font, size, style, first line visible) of cells can
  44. vary from cell to cell
  45. - columns and rows can have application supplied titles
  46. - ability to define a new drawing module for cell data
  47. - optional icon palette to aid in setting table mode for extended
  48. selections, cell edits, etc. Useful for users that limited use of hands
  49. and new users
  50. - define height of column title border and width of row title border
  51. - sort columns and rows
  52. - edit titles in place
  53. - cut/copy/paste cell/title text
  54. - have the cursor automatically change to the proper appearance as it
  55. moves around the table
  56. - user written cell validation functions called during cell edits and
  57. when cell text updated by application.
