- Buy a better Powerbook! :)

- I posted about this subject earlier this year. Here are some thoughts that have
- come to me since then:
-
- Apple made a marketing decision. IMHO an incorrect one. They apparently decided
- that gaining color would influence people to upgrade their macs sooner. In
- this, they were aparently correct. But they seem to have again focused on the
- high end and new customers rather than the loyal customers they already had.
-
- Apple COULD have at least let people with accelerated pluses or SEs use
- CWD or 32bitCQD. But they would have sold less machines doing so.
-
- Alternately, since these machines are usually operating at 1-bit depth,
- writing stub routines in 68000 code for compatability would not have slowed
- the machines down significantly. ( Many people have posted here before saying
- CQD on a 68000 would be too slow to be useful. ) I have seen very few apps
- that refuse to run in 1-bit mode.
-
- I would love to attempt to write these routines myself, but unfortunately I
- have neither the time nor ability.
-
- All that is really required is to rewrite the CQD Atraps in 68000 code and
- make the assumption that 1-bit mode the only depth possibe. should be easy.
-
- Anyone want to make some money? I would pay BIG to get CQD in my MacPlus.
