- Here at Clemson Center Computer, we have been using a network backup utility,
- Retrospect Remote, to backup our local Macs on a combination PhoneNet and
- ethernet network. We have found there is an extremendous need on campus with
- our other departments for a similar service, and we are exploring the idea of
- offering a backup service to our networked Mac (and PC) users.
-
- I am interested in any educational institution who has considered offering or
- is currently offerring a backup service for Macs/PC over an ethernet network on
- their campus. I particularly interested in getting more information on charges
- (cost models), data reliability and liability issues, contract specs, etc. If
- you are currently offering such a service, I like to also know what kinds of
- problems you experienced initially, how many users do you support and what
- system/hardware are you using to implement the service.
-
- Any general comments pro or con to offering such service would be appreicated
- as well. Please reply back to my AppleLink address (U1630) or on internet at
- carlc@clemson.clemson.edu.
-
- Thanks in advance for your help.
