- BTW, CA enthusiasts in this group may have also been reading the series
- of articles in comp.theory.cell-automata on new kinds of spaceships that
- have recently been discovered. It would be really neat if some enterprising
- freeware/shareware author would write a research-oriented Life CA app for
- the mac. By "research-oriented" I mean one with a good pattern editor which
- allows you to create and recall macro patterns for large objects, locate
- objects precisely on the grid, put down locator lines to help align objects,
- allow grouping, flipping, mirroring of objects, etc. Even better would be
- one with built-in pattern search capabilities that could be programmed with
- some kind of scripting language. Oh well, I guess if I want it badly
- enough, I'll have to write it myself...
