  17. The command-right_arrow combination seems to be the main visible effect of this
  18. problem.
  19.  
  20. For example, in Word, you use cmd-right_arrow to move the insertion point one
  21. word to the right.
  22. For example, when using Finder windows in text view, you can expand the
  23. currently selected folder by typing cmd-right_arrow.
  24.  
  25. On a Mac Plus, neither of these seem to work.  When I use my Hard Disk to boot
  26. another Mac, with an ADB keyboard, there seems to be no problem--ergo, the
  27. problem is not with application software.
  28. The problem exists in my Mac Plus regardless of what extensions are present or
  29. if none are present--ergo, not an INIT/cdev problem.
  30. The problem exists with Word and the Finder, but may also effect WriteNow and
  31. MacWrite, ergo, don't blame Microsoft (for once).
  32. The problem exists on other Mac Pluses, ergo it's not my machine (CAVEAT:  I've
  33. only been able to try it out on one other Plus--But it did test positive.)
  34. There appears to be no problem with other command-arrow keys, and
  35. cmd-shift-right_arrow also behaves itself.  Ergo, it's an isolated problem.

  37. As I say, this only seems to effect Pluses, but I haven't been able to test it
  38. on enough to be sure of this.  So if you own a Plus, please check whether the
  39. command-right_arrow key works.  An easy way to do this is to use the
  40. Commands... option in Word.  Find the command "Move one word to the right" and
  41. view the keyboard equivalents.  Cmd-right should be there.  Regardless of
  42. whether it is or not, ask to assign a new (i.e. an additional keystroke to that
  43. command).  A dialog box comes up asking you to type the new keystroke.  Type
  44. command-right_arrow.  In my experience, Word does not respond to this
  45. keystroke.  If it doesn't, THEN THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR KEYBOARD.  Let
  46. Apple know immediately and perhaps they'll try to correct the problem.

  49. your keyboard.
