  14. I have never had the chance to use Maple or Theorist or Mathematica but was
  15. once a dedicated user of SMP (predecessor to Mathematica) and Macsyma. I
  16. shopped for a long and hard for a mac symbolic package but price was always
  17. a barrier to me. Finally, AT LONG LAST, I caught wind of ALJABR which is a
  18. port of Macsyma to the mac. It does not have a pretty user interface but it's
  19. got all of the guts of the old Macsyma.

  21. I just finished a project requiring extended fp arithmetic, power series and
  22. integration and was absolutely amazed at what came out of my old mac+ at home
  23. and IIfx at work.
