- I have an LC that I bought from a US Military AV club while in
- Germany last year. After being Mac-less for a while, I was thrilled
- with my new machine, and really enjoyed the added touches of color.
- One of my first purchases was (naturally) a color game. The Mac
- performed wonderfully, and all was well with the world except...
- sometimes the sound would go out. It just stopped. Sometimes it
- would come back by itself; other times I had to wait until the next
- time I turned the machine on.
-
- Since the only sound-using application I had was this game, which
- was obviously by-passing the ToolBox to increase animation speed
- (screen saver would kick in while moving the mouse and banging keys
- furiously), I wrote it off as possibly a software bug.
-
- Many months later, I have definitely determined that there is some
- sort of hardware problem with this machine. The question is: Is
- this problem of erratic sound widespread with the LC (or any newer
- Mac), or do I just have a "special" machine. If other people have
- experienced this problem, is the problem with the speaker or the
- sound driver?
-
- I had my machine open a couple of months ago to install more
- memory, but the speaker is so well hidden, I couldn't check the
- conections to see if they are loose.
-
- Any responses, please e-mail (so many newsgroups, so little time).
- Feel free to post replies of general net interest.
