  13. Hi folks! I've got a friend whose got a 320 meg external SCSI hard drive
  14. attached to his Macintosh IIcx 8/80. Problem is, things were working fine
  15. up until about a week ago when suddenly the damned thing wouldn't recognize
  16. the hard drive. The Mac boots up fine, but when it gets to MAC EKG (init),
  17. it says "Fatal error 1002" and then continues the boot. I get the internal
  18. HD icon, but no external HD icon. I tried booting disabling all INITS and
  19. the same thing happened- no external HD icon. We tried chaning the SCSI
  20. ID interface from 6 to 1 and nothing changed it. We warmed up the external
  21. drive for a good 30 seconds before booting up the Mac- no change. 
  22.  What could the problem be? Is it SCSI or is it a problem with the HD
  23. itself?
