  23. I bought one about a year ago at COMPUSA for about the same price.  The OCR
  24. software was so error-prone as to be nearly useless.  I can type faster!
  25. That would have been version 2.01 of the software which they shipped to
  26. me on my request right after I purchased the scanner in 11/91.

  28. There was a review of scanners in a recent MacWorld.  Hand scanners
  29. were pretty well panned.  At least the DEST has a paper feed.

  34. Overall, my humble opinion is that I won't buy a scanner until I can
  35. afford a flat-bed model.  The HP is on my list.  I'm a satisfied customer
  36. of theirs for other products.
