  13. I just acquired a Mac Portable (NOT a PowerBook) with a backlit screen,
  14. probably not much more than a year old.  It is running System 7.
  15.  
  16. My questions are of two kinds.  The first kind is, What utilities are
  17. indispensable or at least incredibly useful with a Mac Portable?  Are
  18. there any special tricks or tips that I should know about?
  19.  
  20. The second question is this:  I would much rather run System 6.0.x on
  21. the Portable, both for speed and memory purposes.  When I bought it, the
  22. previous owner tried to put System 6.0.5 and 6.0.8 on it, but the
  23. backlighting would not work.  What is the earliest version of the System
  24. software that will support a Mac Portable with backlighting?  What
  25. controls the backlighting?

  27. Any help with these questions will be much appreciated.
