- As promised, I said I would post the results of my question
- regarding the maximum amount of memory one can have in a
- IIsi.
-
- The IIsi has 4 slots for SIMMS, and as long as they fit in
- the case, there is no limit on the size of the SIMMS that
- one can add. Of course, you do need System 7 to access any
- memory beyond 8Mb. One Mb is soldered on the mother-board, so
- for the given SIMMS sizes you get:
-
- 1Mb = 5Mb total
- 2Mb = 9Mb total
- 4Mb = 17Mb total
- 8Mb = 33Mb total
- 16Mb = 65Mb total
-
- Most of you were good enough to point out that while the size
- of the SIMMS may not be prohibitive, the cost surely can be:
-
- SIMM Price per Mb Total cost for upgrade
- 4Mb ~$25 ~$400
- 8Mb ~$40 !!! ~$1300
- 16Mb ~$29 ~$1850
-
- Why 8Mb SIMMS are 1.5 times the price of the 4 is a mystery to me,
- unless the process is just that expensive.
