- Very interesting... I had this very same problem with my very old
- Miniscribe 20. I have zero idea what causes it, and I know what to do
- to get it spinning (on my drive). There's this little thing (called
- an actuator by a sticker on the drive) on the side that looks like a
- position sensor/servo combo. It's a little arm on a shaft that sticks
- sideways out of the drive, and the shaft rotates the arm around.
- There's a sensor that the arm can rotate into. Must be to measure
- position. The sticker says "Do not rotate actuator". The problem
- occurs when the little arm is aligned with the sensor. So what I do
- is turn the power off and rotate the actuator so that it's no longer
- aligned with the sensor. Now when I power-on it takes off a'spinnin'.
