- I have a 400MB hard disk in a Quadra 900 which has developed a
- couple of bad sectors. I detected the problem when I ran Norton
- Utilities "Speed Disk" on the drive. I immediately backed up
- the entire hard drive and tried to re-format the hard disk
- using Apple's HD SC Setup from the Disk Tools disk that ships
- w/ the Quadra. It would "think about it" (spinning disk icon)
- for a while, then come up with a dialog box stating that it
- had failled.
-
- Is there another utility I should be using? I know that I need
- to re-format the drive so that the bad sectors can be mapped
- out, speed disk only over writes "dummy" files over the sectors
- so that they don't get used.
-
- Thanx in advance,
