  14.     I am interested in buying an OCR software and
  15. would like to hear from people who are using one.  
  16. There are quite a few on the market and they all cost
  17. quite a bit so I would like to find how people like
  18. the software they bought.  
  19.  
  20.     In particular, I am confused by the OCR softwares
  21. put out by Caere Corp.  They started with OmniPage 1.0,
  22. eventually put out OmniPage 3.0.  Then they released 
  23. OmniPage Professional.  This year, they released OmniPage
  24. Direct.  What are the differences among these packages?
  25. Is OmniPage Direct supposed to be the OCR of choice
  26. because it's the software released most recently?

  28.     Also, I see an ad for TypeReader in which
  29. the company claimed that it's the "best" OCR available
  30. and has a side-grade offer of $149.00 till December 1992.
  31. does anybody have any experience with this OCR software?
