- 1) When we converted (upgraded) our RTs to the EESDI, they came with
- a utility disk that performed a low-level format on the
- existing ESDI drives to make them into the EESDI drives. No
- I don't have the utility disk anymore.
-
- NOTE: the following is an assumption that the card in your RT
- was the Matrox card that I am familiar with. I suppose they
- do make more than one card, but only one that I know of was
- supported on the RT.
-
- 2) The Matrox card is a vendor card that one could buy from Matrox (i.e.
- not an IBM card). When our principle machines were RTs, several
- people had the Matrox card (alas, not me ;^{ ). It's a high
- resolution graphics card that does at least 1024 x 1024. We
- connected it to the IBM 6081-19 Color Monitor (which has been
- replaced by the 6091-19). It was supposed to be faster than
- the IBM high res color ("megapel") card, but I have no experience
- with that. Yes, it will do X-windows.
-
- You might be able to contact Matrox for technical info (I don't know if they
- are still in business, though)
-
- All this seems a little sketchy. I hope it helps in some way.
-
- Sincerely,
- George Noren
-
- My opinions, of course...
