- This is sort of a follow-up to a posting I made last week. I had asked for
- opinions on different models of 17" monitors. I got a few e-mail responses,
- some of which suggesting that I should post my findings from all of these
- responses. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten enough responses to be able to
- post anything meaningful.
-
- Anyway, I went to a local Queens, NY PC clone dealer to see what their prices
- were for different 17" monitors. For the Mag 17F, they were asking $1275,
- while the Viewsonic 7 would cost around $1300 although the salesman said he
- would have to get in touch with his supplier for an exact price quote.
-
- However, he did say that he can get good deal for a Seiko 17" monitor for
- $1150. The monitor has .25" dot pitch and can do 1280*1024 resolution. He
- said that he could FAX me the specs if I needed them, since he didn't have
- them handy, but I don't have a FAX machine.
-
- Now here's the irony. While looking through Computer Shopper, I see that
- there are mail order hops that carry the Viewsonic 7 for $1100 but sell a
- 17" Seiko monitor for about $1300, the reverse of the prices quotes above.
-
- How many different 17" monitors, if more than one, does Seiko manufacture
- and how good are they compared to other monitors in the $1150 range?
-
- Thanks,
- Ed Stasic
