- You should see a broad range of opinions.

-
- You will see a lot of horror stories, and you'll see a lot of people
- tell you it's very stable. I am one of the latter.
-
- Stacker is not like plugging in a hard disk (ie, plug it in, turn it on,
- set some parameters, and forget about it). However, it is much cheaper
- than a hard disk and is fairly easy to use.
-
- One of the reasons people get royally confused with Stacker is that the
- install program will default to compressing the entire existing hard
- disk and then swapping it with the uncompressed disk. This makes the
- hard disk "magically" appear twice as large, but software that tries to
- manipulate the startup sequence (AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS) will
- almost always get confused, and so will the user.
-
- I recommend buying Stacker because it works very well. I also recommend
- that you read the manual thoroughly and try to figure out what Stacker
- is going to do on your system, before you do anything with it.
