- I have some trouble with my 386DX-16MHz computer. It was working fine
- till I attempted to replace the IDE controller and hard drive by MFM controller
- and hard drive. The system then broke down even I intalled back the IDE
- controller and hard drive again.
-
- Now, whenever I switch on the computer, I can hear the hard drive is
- running. Unfortunately, the system doesn't respond anymore. Since I don't hear
- the sound of 'beep' from the speaker, I assume there is something wrong with
- the motherboard. Then, I called the local dealer, they said they would charge
- $50 per hour for the labor fee. The cost is enough for me to replace a new
- board. Can someone tell me the possible reason to cause the computer down? i.e.
- Does it possible that BIOS, Microprocessor, or RAM sets have been destroyed?
- What I supposed to do?
