- I just bought a Gateway 486DX2/50
-
- The machine seems fine, except for not liking my IBM Token Ring card
- (which is probably the card's fault, nonetheless Gatweway's tech reps
- are pretty clueless about it).
-
- My main complaint is the Technical Service, you can NEVER get through.
- I'm talking about a literal >1 hour wait at all hours (including near
- midnight EST). I Faxed a problem and recieved a 1 day turnaround, but
- the response wasn't that helpful. I emailed a problem to
- Gateway@aol.com and received back some STUPID questions that the tech
- rep could have figures out herself by back-checking with my order # that
- I included.
-
- The Documentation is slip-shod in some places, it showes features that
- no longer exist (card I/O delay settings). The kicker was when I went
- to update the Windows resolution by installing the ATI Ultra drivers,
- and proceeded to $#|%#$% up my machine because NOWHERE in the docs does
- it mention that you shouldn't use the ATI Drivers disk that they TELL
- you to use, you should use the Win 3.1 Supplement disk that works with
- Windows 3.1.
-
- So.... I've heard good things about PC connection.
