  33. My experience says I second this.  An XT controller will boot, but the AT
  34. POST will report the disk controller is not working if you enable any
  35. drive type.  I ran a 286 this way for quite a while until I had the money
  36. for a 16 bit RLL card.

  38. A few controllers may not work because of the faster bus speed, but they 
  39. would have to be pretty poorly designed not to handle 8 MHz.
