- My hard disk is formatted with 4-sector (2048-byte) clusters. I want
- to use 16-sector (8192-byte) clusters. How can I change it?
-
- The details:
- I've just received a new Compudyne 486-33 notebook, with a 124MB hard disk.
- That's not quite enough for my needs (it's the largest disk they had), so
- I planned to install Stacker 2.0. Trouble is, Stacker only works with
- 16-sector clusters (except for an XT fix that doesn't apply), and the
- notebook's hard disk is setup with 4-sector clusters. So I need to
- change something. The BIOS is Phoenix. I'm not sure what kind of disk
- drive I've got. The BIOS came with it configured type 23: 934 cyl,
- 16 hds, 17 sec, no pre-comp or landing zone. Norton reports the same,
- except says there are only 933 cylinders.
-
- I've re-formated the disk, and even re-partitioned the drive, but
- it always comes up with 2K-sized clusters. Apparently, I'm missing
- something. Any ideas?
-
- Thanks,
-
