- I have been scanning this and other groups for related information, and
- I have yet to see anything that has helped me. I am at the end of my
- rope...
-
- Anybody who can sort through this has my deepest admiration--it is a mess...
-
- Currently I have:
- - A 286 motherboard with AMI BIOS.
- - A WD1003E Ethernet card (IRQ 2, IO address 0x340, RAM@D8000--all are
- configurable)
- - 4 serial ports (shared IRQ 3,4, standard IO addresses. I can live with only
- two ports, however)
- - 2 parallel ports (IRQ 5 and 7--I can live with only one if need be).
- - An el-cheapo 8-bit Oak VGA card (The docs are sparse--I don't know if IRQ 2
- is used here)
- - A generic IDE controller with a ST157A drive. The controller only has the
- option of disabling the drive. The IDE controller is also a floppy controller.
-
- Ok (is anybody still reading this?), I would like to add a WD1004-27X
- controller with an ST138R drive to this system. I have been completely
- and utterly unsuccessful. Even after removing the ethernet card, COM3+4, LPT2,
- and disabling the IDE drive, I can't get the beast to see the drive. I've
- tried various combonations of drive numbers, BIOS settings, and jumper
- settings, all with no luck.
-
- If somebody could sort through this, keeping in mind that I can be flexible
- with the other cards, I would greatly appreciate it. I will buy the first to
- respond the beverage of his or her choice if that person is ever in town.
-
- Thanks,
- Dave

- (BTW, since this has been pounded into the ground in this newsgroup, kindly
- mail responses in order to spare others of more articles on this problem.)
