- It seems to me you have brain-dead software. The modem knows nothing
- about this string with regards to input. It does _output_ it when it
- detects a lost carrier and is in verbose mode. Your software should
- only be looking for this string when it's in the process of dialing.
- Otherwise the modem itself should disconnect only when it truly
- recognizes a dropped carrier.
