- Hi,
-
- I was wondering if someone out there could help me. I recently bought
- a used accelerator card for my old (1988) Leading Edge Model D2. (IBM XT comp.)
- The card is an ORCHID TINY TURBO 286. I believe the 286 is running at 8 Mhz.
- The problem is that the guy I bought it from did not have any manuals.
- ( I know, it was really stupid to buy it.) He said it came in the 8088 that he
- took it out of.
-
- Now to my question. Is anyone familiar with this card? I can't get it
- to work. Could someone tell me what each of the jumpers stands for? There are
- two sets of jumpers. The first set is at the top of the card. They have 5 Mhz
- and 8 Mhz next to them. I guess these tell what speed your 8088 runs. The
- second set is at the bottom right of the card, right next to the metal back.
- There are five of them. They are labeled W1 through W5. There is also a two
- position switch that is on the metal that is at the back of the card. It has
- an open spot for a chip next to the 286 CPU. I assume that it is for a 286
- math co-processor. Also there is an 8088 CPU on a raised mini-board. Is this
- supposed to be there or is it the CPU from his 8088? Am I supposed to put my
- CPU there? The cable that has the attachment to connect into the CPU's old
- place on the motherboard is right next to this raised mini-board.
-
- Can someone help me get it to work in my machine? I'll appreciate ANY
- help I can get. I just might be able to get enough different ideas to get it
- to work.
-
